Freshmen could visit Xi'an Eurasia University to explore the surprises hidden in all parts of the campus and establish a new life circle. They could serve as "admission officers" to learn about the highlights of their majors and ignite enthusiasm for future learning. They could also play in Lego Workshop, participate in activities related to the Career Day, think about future career development plans, and find their own accelerators for dreams.
From August 26 to 31, the 6-day freshmen experience camp in 2024 brought more than 6,100 freshmen a wonderful "gift pack" for admission. From ignorance, confusion and curiosity to familiarity, clarity and expectation, freshmen quickly integrated themselves into campus life in diversified projects about "life, study and dream" exploration and started their journey of growth in Xi'an Eurasia University in an all-round way.
This year, the freshmen experience camp has undergone major changes compared with that in previous years. As a featured project of "Experience in Xi'an Eurasia University" in the 2024 "First Year Action Plan", the freshmen experience camp focused on the goal of freshman education. The School of General Education was responsible for its design and work coordination, and it worked together with the Student Development Office, Career Development and Enterprise Cooperation Department and nine second-class schools to present three major activities under the themes of "Life", "Study" and "Dream" to help freshmen make the transition from high school to college.
The first class: The "First Year Action Plan" will lead freshmen to new growth paths

(Fig. 1) Speech by Zhang Junhong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Xi'an Eurasia University
"At the university, you should not only learn professional knowledge and exchange academic views, but also learn to expand your thinking space," said Zhang Junhong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Xi'an Eurasia University, to students online and offline at the opening ceremony of the freshmen experience camp on August 26.
Zhang Junhong explained in detail the university's first exclusive gift to the freshmen — First Year Action Plan. The "First Year Action Plan" was initiated by the Student Development Office, coordinating the university's resources to help freshmen smoothly complete the student growth projects from "desocialization" to "socialization". It focuses on the experience and education of freshmen in the first year, provides comprehensive campus life guidance for them, and further helps them better explore future development directions. The plan is divided into five stages: cognition, experience, exploration, practice and harvest. Based on the growth needs and characteristics of freshmen at each stage, it sets up main tasks and breakthrough projects to provide them with targeted services and development support.

(Fig. 2) Vice President Sun Jianrong Gives a Lecture on the First Class of the New Semester
"Are you ready for the four-year life in Xi'an Eurasia University?" Later, Professor Sun Jianrong, Vice President of Xi'an Eurasia University, gave a lecture on the first class of the new semester for freshmen. With the theme of "What University Life Looks Like", he asked students three questions: "Higher education preparation beyond 4 years?" "AIGC-laden college experience?" and "Different yet more challenging job markets?"
"During the four years, students will experience a transformation from learning knowledge to developing abilities. In addition to the learning of professional knowledge, the abilities in three aspects, namely responsibility, meta-learning and action, are crucial for students' future development. At Xi'an Eurasia University, students have the opportunity to participate in various social practice activities and innovation and entrepreneurship activities, which will help them combine what they have learned with practice and cultivate their ability to innovate and solve problems," said Sun Jianrong.

(Fig. 3 and 4) Freshmen Attend the First Class Online and Offline
Feng Yishuo, a freshman enrolled in 2024 of the International Youth Community, said: "Responsibility, meta-learning and action make me understand that I should value my growth and prepare for the future. I will take my everyday study and life seriously, and strive for a better future."
Life: Exploring the Campus/Establishing a Social Circle, Taking the 1st Step in College Life
"How to get to Hongqiao/Jinqiao Restaurant?" "Where is the express station on campus?" "Where are the self-study spaces distributed?" To answer these campus-related questions raised by freshmen, the best way is to guide them to those places.

(Fig. 5, 6 and 7) School Walk in Xi'an Eurasia University
On August 26, with the theme of "School Walk in Xi'an Eurasia University", freshmen walked around the university in groups under the leadership of community student mentors, exploring every corner of the campus to discover the functions of each building and gain survival skills on campus. In the session of "Talk about Xi'an Eurasia University", students sketched out the area that impressed the team most; in combination with their understanding of the development history of Xi'an Eurasia University, they got to know the university and deepened their impression in the keynote speech themed "Spokesperson of Xi'an Eurasia University".

(Fig. 8, 9 and 10) Youth Talk · Community Shared Values
Youth communities have also designed a variety of activities for freshmen to find various hidden surprises in community life. Through the activity of "Youth Talk · Shared Values", the Confucius Youth Community encourages freshmen to share their experience in dormitory item storage and sorting, and develop clean and healthy living habits from the beginning of enrollment. Queens' Land & Drucker Youth Communities held the knowledge contest of the "First Year Action Plan". Highlighting both intelligence and fun, the contest enables freshmen to be familiar with community shared values, community culture and the university's rules and regulations, understand the code of conduct and rationally plan their future college life.

"Understand and respect each other, communicate more, and avoid quarrels!"
"Help each other, be united and friendly with each other, and strive to create a civilized dormitory!"
"If someone is resting or studying in the dormitory, try not to make too much noise."
……
The words written in the Dormitory Convention reflect students' recognition and practice of the youth community's shared values of being "tidy, healthy, friendly and self-disciplined". The convention also witnesses the friendship of six new friends who have gathered together from various places, and it will accompany them to enjoy every warm moment of community life.
Study: Project Experience & Role-Playing as Admission Officers, Learning About Diversified Majors
From August 28 to 29, nine second-class schools carefully designed activities such as enterprise visits, project practice, expert alumni sharing, and speeches under the theme of "Role-Playing as Admission Officers" around the goal of "knowing yourself, knowing your major, and rationally planning your study and life", so as to help freshmen understand their schools and majors, master learning objectives, establish good study habits, and promote academic growth.

(Fig. 12, 13 and 14) Visits to Enterprises
Students visited Nongfu Spring's intelligent production factory to understand the whole process of products from the production line to brand marketing, and explore the importance of human resource management and development behind it. They got to know media integration in Xi'an Broadcasting Corporation and the office of ishaanxi.com, and experienced a day of journalists at Xiying Group. They went to Baker Tilly China Certified Public Accountants and Yanta District Administrative Examination and Approval Bureau to personally experience the real scenes of financial accounting work. The enterprise study tour is a regular part of major entrance education. Freshmen from the School of Business Administration, School of Accounting, and School of Culture & Media visited enterprises in the industry and communicated with enterprise leaders and brand directors face to face, so as to understand the latest developments and trends of the industry by themselves.

(Fig. 15, 16 and 17) Real Project Cognition Practice
The School of Culture & Media and the School of Vocational Education also integrate real projects into major cognition education, so as to help freshmen learn about their majors from project practice, explore and try to find goals suitable for personal talents, abilities and preferences. The major of Internet and New Media guides freshmen to analyze the brand communication influence of time-honored enterprises in Xi'an, use AI to empower new media expression and communication of brand stories, and explore the cultural export and communication of traditional Chinese classic figures and museums' cultural relics. Freshmen in the major of Digital Publishing tried to serve as animation directors and book propagandists. Under the guidance of enterprise mentors and the major's teachers, they tried to design their own animation storyboard sketches, organized a brainstorming session for children's book communication and began to understand book design skills and marketing strategies. Freshmen majoring in Sports Economics and Management admitted from junior colleges became sports event planners and fitness store operation strategists. They simulated the scenario of sports event bidding and cost control, discussing how to operate stores based on the market trends and the needs of target audience.
Apart from learning on campus, freshmen also became involved in various practical activities in more than 20 core employers such as Xiying Group, Huanqiu.com, Xi'an Broadcasting Corporation, Zhihu Shaanxi Operation Center, Changsheng Event Operation Co., Ltd., and Shaanxi Leyang Sports Culture Development Co., Ltd. As a result, they have had a more clear understanding of the application of professional knowledge in practical work, and clearer learning objectives and career plans have already been outlined in their minds.

(Fig. 18, 19 and 20) Speeches under the Theme of "Role-Playing as Admission Officers"
"If I were an admission officer, how do I cognize, express and introduce my major?" "How will this major shape us?" In the "Role-Playing as Admission Officers" session, freshmen displayed their talents and skills, presenting their cognition of their majors in enrollment posters and major presentations. Students of various majors created colorful, creative and interesting enrollment posters in groups with their paintbrushes. They introduced the campus environment, international teaching, major highlights and development prospects of Xi'an Eurasia University in a more diverse way, including some amazing surprises: Students majoring in Engineering Management created an architectural space model of the campus with clay, and made the class interesting through lively introduction; freshmen majoring in Finance shot a video vlog, recording the details of the two days and the learning scenes on campus. The calm, enthusiastic, professional or imaginative expression of the students presented more possibilities and imagination for the upcoming learning.
Dream: What Kind of Person Do You Want to Be? Draw Your Dreams on the Wall and Move Forward Bravely
After the two-day major cognition education with a tight schedule and rich contents, you may wonder: how can I scientifically and reasonably plan my school life to realize my career dream? Facing the challenges of multiple tasks and uncertainties in study, what support and help can I seek? In the "Dream" section from August 30 to 31, freshmen learned about their dreams and the future through interesting interactive activities such as APPLE Advertising Design Competition, Career Day, and Dream Drawing Wall.

(Fig. 21 and 22) Lego Workshop
In the colorful Lego world, each brick carries infinite imagination and possibilities. Focusing on the theme of "APPLE Advertising Design Competition", students used their nimble hands and blue-sky thinking to build creative works with a high sense of science and technology. In this process, they also had a better understanding of APPLE Learning Support Center, a "learning gas station". The learning support center regularly holds various lectures and workshops, inviting experts, scholars and celebrities in various fields to share their experience and wisdom with everyone. It also provides Office Hour consulting services for every student. In Office Hour, students can have one-to-one or one-to-many communication with teachers from different professional backgrounds to discuss the course content, academic issues and career development, or talk about frustration, confusion and ideals. > Details

(Fig. 23, 24 and 25) Career Day
Whether you are introvert or extrovert, you can open the MBTI questionnaire to discover your own personality traits, explore your career interest and development direction through an adventure in the forest, or travel across time and space to break the boundaries of thinking and enjoy various possibilities in the future life. The Career Day launched by the Career Development and Enterprise Cooperation Department enabled freshmen to understand the relationship between personal pursuit and work goals, establish correct career values and make good career plans through five major activities: Introversion vs. Extraversion, Adventure in the Forest, Looking for a Compass, Traveling Across Time and Space, and Forging Ahead for Ideals.

(Fig. 26 and 27) Dream Drawing Wall
"The meaning of dream is not to reach the destination, but to find passion and happiness in continuous pursuit." The dream declaration written by a freshman on the Dream Drawing Wall would encourage the student to move forward courageously in the college life.
"Xunzi said, 'There is no end to learning.' Life is a journey of self-improvement and learning. This entrance education helped me fully know and understand the university. The new campus, new teachers and new classmates brought me a novel and warm feeling. Here, teachers have planted the seeds of ideals for us and give each of us a chance to work hard and realize it." Tian Kun, a freshman majoring in Exhibition Economy and Management of the School of Business Administration enrolled in 2024, is also looking forward to his future college life.
Interview with More Freshmen →
Zhang Tongwei, School of Human Settlements and Civil Engineering: During the activities, I not only got familiar with the campus environment, but also made new friends and adapted to the collective life through interactive games and classroom experience. The patient and meticulous guidance of the teachers gave me great expectation and confidence in my future study and life. This experience not only helped me ease the tension of admission, but also inspired my love for the college life.
Zhao Ruohan, School of Business Administration: Through the activities and study in these days, I have realized that marketing is a major full of challenges and opportunities. It not only requires us to have an in-depth understanding of the market, but also needs our innovative thinking and keen insight. Marketing is not just about selling products, it's a process of building relationships with consumers and creating value.
Wei Jiaqi, School of Vocational Education: During the project planning stage, I learned that the experience camp was jointly planned with Xiying Group, which made me realize the practicality and pertinence of vocational education. By working closely with companies, we are able to grasp the needs of the industry and learn how to solve practical problems. This "employer-oriented" teaching model gives me a clearer picture of my future learning and career development.

(Fig. 28) Group Photo of Youth Community Student Mentors
During this year's freshmen experience camp, 97 community student mentors and 25 college student mentors assumed the responsibility of assisting teachers in their work. From the host of the opening ceremony and community class assistants to school activity assistants, workshop activity mentors and volunteers at check-in points, each student mentor played an extremely important role with due diligence. These lovely seniors are the best role models for freshmen.
Thanks to their participation, the "First Year Action Plan" is of special significance in carrying forward Xi'an Eurasia University's values of "Responsibility, Innovation, Partnership, and Usefulness"! We appreciate their hard work and we are looking forward to the debut of students enrolled in 2024 in the freshmen experience camp in 2025!
